Senior Consultant, Corporate & Financial
We’re looking for a motivated, curious and enthusiastic communications professional to join our team in Toronto as a Senior Consultant. In addition to robust experience with the development and implementation of strategic communications programs for top tier clients/brands, the successful candidate should also have a working knowledge of digital strategies in order to deliver truly integrated campaigns. The incumbent would be responsible for managing mid-sized accounts and provides day-to-day strategic advice and direction to clients in collaboration with senior support. Client work would be largely focused on Corporate Communications and Financial Services with the possibility of working across multiple sectors depending on agency growth.
Your Responsibilities:
Plan development, implementation, and account management
- Manages accounts alone or in collaboration with a senior colleague (e.g., plays the role of account deputy on larger, more complex accounts)
- Understands clients’ businesses and competitive landscape
- Anticipates key issues and needs of clients
- With senior support, develops integrated on-strategy account plans
- Develops measurable goals and evaluation for each campaign
- Leads account teams on mid-sized accounts (e.g., work allocation and delegation, determining roles and responsibilities, etc.) and ensures high quality service
- Adept at developing, managing and tracking budgets (fees and expenses) for a variety of clients
- Ensures senior management have an understanding of client satisfaction on an ongoing basis
Issues management
- In partnership with senior support, provides counsel to clients
- Supports issues management work through activities such as messaging, materials development, etc.
- Is adept at identifying emerging risks to clients and proactively recommending defensive measures
New business development
- Contributes to growing annual revenue in collaboration with senior leaders
- Actively seeks out and participates in new business opportunities as well as identifies and pursues organic growth opportunities with existing clients
- Strong presentation skills
Technical skills
- Strategic thinking applied to all activities
- Strategic media relations (e.g., able to produce excellent results and secure strategic placements)
- Excellent writing/editing/proofing skills
- Strong event management skills: executes and oversees
- Solid proposal development (from start to finish)
- Strategic social media thinking and skills (e.g., online listening and analysis, content development, engagement, etc.)
- Strong content strategy development skills including paid digital and social content
- Firm grasp of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube,
- Google, Search Engine Optimization, etc.)
- Involves Digital Practice for additional expertise in digital communications business building and client service
- Command of MS Office
Staff management
- Actively mentors and supervises direct reports (e.g., Account Coordinators), including conducting their annual performance reviews and overseeing the fulfillment of their annual learning objectives
- Acts as a mentor for others that are not direct reports
- Sustains a collaborative work environment through enthusiasm, support and open communication
- Takes initiative to showcase team success
- Participates in skills training for junior staff
Agency marketing
- Actively leads award submissions
- Ensures case study development
- Identifies capabilities presentation opportunities and actively participates
- Participates in Agency social media initiatives
- Identifies trends and practices of other agencies, etc.

Qualifications and Experience:
- College or university degree or equivalent
- Post-secondary courses in public relations or a related field
- 5-7 years public relations experience
- Solid strategist and strong writer
- Knowledge of industry trends, practice sector trends and current affairs
- Demonstrates good judgment for clients’ and Proof’s businesses
- Problem solver / resourceful
